Let Your Speech Cut Like a Blade, and Heal Like a River

Psalms 45:4

And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things.

Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

John 4:13-15 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Romans 11:13-15 13 I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, 14in the hope that I may provoke my own people to jealousy and save some of them. 15For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16If the first part of the dough is holy, so is the whole batch; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

Speak truth everywhere you go, let it cut like a blade circumcising the heart and cauterizing with flame.

The truth is salt to the wound of sin, and once admitted will cleanse if allowed to sit and savor. Is this not why we must confess to one another our sins brethren? For denial of the truth is an infection, a leaking pustule oozing bitterness and insecurity from the wounds of offense and strife.

To the prideful the truth is like the latter rain amidst a parched and cracked land. It is rejected in cascades and causes rivers to divide the earth. Withered trees and brambles are left in the midst as a reminder of their torment. Nevertheless, God’s word will never return void, whether it was received where it was sent to or not; for when the word was sent to the Jews they did not receive it, and instead it was received by the gentiles who knew not yet where the word had come from, that by jealousy the original people would be provoked to return to their God. The word of God being like seeds planted amongst the river banks of life that they may all grow to become great oaks bearing righteous fruit.

In finality, do not be satisfied with the broken cisterns of men. Let your tongue be quenched by the word of Life, drink from our Father’s limitless rivers. Let the living waters spring up from your innermost wells into eternal life. Let that which proceeds from your mouth be for the rejuvenation of the soul and edification of the inner man. Be humble and do not repress the truth, that you may receive what is good, that the old may be washed away and forgotten. But remember that our sins are not washed clean by water of baptism, but by the blood of Christ in which we drank, yea but the waters bear witness that we have been buried with Christ and shall partakers of His resurrection if we die daily to ourselves until He come again.
